Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana has become the first South African player to win the Tunisian league title after ES Tunis secured a 5-0 win over Olympique Beja. The 25-year-old came off the bench and scored the fifth goal, sealing ES Tunis' 19th win of the season.
With this victory, ES Tunis climbed to 65 points from 29 games, four points ahead of second-placed Monastir. This marks the club's record 34th Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 title.
Mokwana, who joined ES Tunis from Sekhukhune United, has now won two trophies in Tunisia, having previously lifted the Super Cup earlier this year. His achievement marks a historic milestone for South African football in Tunisia.
