Kaizer Chiefs' vice-captain, Inacio Miguel, is confident that his team can exploit any complacency in Orlando Pirates' camp ahead of their highly anticipated Nedbank Cup final clash. The two Soweto giants are set to face off for the third time this season, with Pirates holding the upper hand after winning both previous encounters.
Miguel, who has scored three goals in the competition, emphasized the importance of staying calm and focused as the team prepares for the biggest game. "One could say it's the biggest game because it's for a trophy," he told the club's official website. "But I play every match like it's a final. I give my maximum every game."
The Angolan international highlighted the responsibility that comes with wearing the vice-captain's armband but is eager to lead by example and allow his teammates to play freely. Having experienced the pressure of cup finals before, Miguel aims to be a calming influence on the team.
Miguel also reflected on the previous meeting between the two teams, acknowledging the mistakes that led to their loss. "We lost the game, but there are things we can learn from it," he said. "We saw where we came up short and won't make the same mistakes again."
With Pirates potentially feeling overconfident after their recent win, Miguel believes his team can capitalize on any complacency. "Last weekend's result might make Pirates a little bit over-confident, and we are well-prepared, mentally and physically, to take advantage of that," he added.
The Kaizer Chiefs vice-captain emphasized the team's focus on the present moment, highlighting their determination to bring home the trophy. "We have a final to play with a trophy on the line, and we want to show everyone, including ourselves, that we can do it," he said.
The highly anticipated match is set to take place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, with kickoff scheduled for 15:30. The stadium is expected to be sold out, setting the stage for an electrifying encounter between the two Soweto giants.
